Rosary Apostolate in the Families - Rosary Visitor -

Overview


This is an Apostolate of prayer. The Volunteer is called a "Rosary Visitor."s7nbsp;They will bear witness to their faith by teaching families to love Jesus with the Heart of Mary by praying the Rosary and the Act of Consecration. "The family that prays together, stays together." They will follow the themes and meditations as outlined in the booklet provided by the Rosary Apostolate.

Mandatory Activities and Responsibilities


The Rosary Visitor will visit families via the school and / or via the local Parish. Families will be visited once a week. Duration of visits in the families should be one hour. Rosary Visitors must work together with a partner; as a couple (husband and wife); or as a family. The volunteer's willingness and availability will determine the number of family visits made through out the year.

Expectation of Rosary Visitors:

  1. A serious commitment to visit the families on a weekly bases for the period of one year, which can be renewed annually. This includes punctuality.
  2. A dress code should be observed. Dress in a professional manner.
  3. The "Rosary Visitor" will be the person who will request permission from Principals and Pastors to advertise, send notices home, so interested families may call to request visits.
    The Rosary Visitor will make-up a schedule for family visits.
  4. Rosary Visitors will be trained and screened by their Regional Director.
  5. Rosary Visitors must still attend monthly/bimonthly meetings as indicated by their Regional Directors if they are also visiting the schools. If the Rosary Visitor only runs the Family program, instead of attending regional meetings they are required to report to the Head Coordinator for the Rosary Apostolate in the Family.
  6. Misconduct will result in termination of volunteer services to our program.
    a) rosary visitor is expected to behave appropriately within the homes of these families.
    b) To adhere strictly to the monthly Themesoutlined in booklet used for these family visits.
    c) They are expected to maintain good relations with Principals, Pastors, and the families they minister to at all times.
    d) Gifts or religious materials are not to be given to the families except those outlined in the program. You must seek approval from the Rosary Apostolate Spiritual Director before introducing anything new to families.
If a Rosary Visitor should break any of these rules, an "Incident Report" will be filled out by the Regional Director or the Apostolic Director and kept on file, a copy of it is also sent to the Rosary Apostolate Head Office and a "Termination Notice" will be given to the volunteer.

Skills, Experiences and Qualifications

The volunteer should be a practicing Catholic. They must also have a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and also pray the rosary on a regular basis. Also she or he must respect families.

Personal Traits and Qualities

The people we seek for this position are: people who want to help families to return to the practice of praying the rosary as a family.  They are, Loving, Giving, Prayerful, Humble, Peaceful, Understanding, Forgiving, Friendly, Wise, Trusting, Obedient, Patient, Good and Kind.

Orientation and Training

The Regional Director will provide "Training" using a Training Booklet and a DVD Presentation. They will run through the routine of a family visit and provide the supplied needed to conduct their family visits.

Participant Group

Volunteers will serve the families within the Catholic Schools and local Parish in their Region. Volunteers will work with a partner, as a couple or as a family.

Support Supervision and Evaluation

The Apostolic Director will support and assist the volunteer in this position. Every volunteer is screened by their Regional Directors.  The Rosary Visitors work in pairs so they will constantly be supervising each other, observing interaction with families, that they follow guidelines and presentation requirements. They will assist each other and encourage each other in this ministry.

Length of the Ministry

The volunteer may remain in this position as long as he/she is both physically and mentally willing to carry out the duties required.  We expect volunteers to at least commit themselves for one academic year from October to May.

Benefits and Working Conditions

Volunteers will gain self-confidence in speaking in front of families. They will meet new families and make new friends. Their devotion to the Mother of God and her Rosary will increase. One often walks away from a family visit feeling they have really been a missionary for Our Lady. It is a wonderful and rewarding ministry.

Screening Measures

The risk level is high. Screening will follow the 10 steps used in High risk ministry positions including a Criminal Record Check. Screening will be conducted by Regional Directors, who will be supported and assisted Rosary Apostolate Screening Committee.
